Words Will Heal features the works of J. Otis Powell!, Arkology, Truthmaze, Bao Phi, ANIKA, Desdamona, Sister Mimi, Sha Cage, Slug (of Atmosphere), Wookiefoot, and others. Includes original version of Slug's 'Hell's Playground'. A must have for lovers of spoken word and those interested in the Minnesota scene.

He is a poet, philosopher, performance artist, curator, arts administrator, and media producer. Until recently he worked as Program Director for Interdisciplinary Collaborations at The Loft, the nation's most comprehensive literary center. He just released a recording of his work, THEOLOGY: Love and Revolution. He publishes poetry in mid air through performances with ensembles such as NOW!, tHE eDGE eNSEMBLE, The New Day Blues Band, IMP ORK, SIRIUS B, Tribo, and a diverse assortment of musicians and performance artists. While in New York J. Otis also performed with The David Murray Orchestra and read at The Nuyorican Poets Café. His writing has appeared in: Hungry Mind Review, A Definitive Guild To the Twin Cities, A View from the Loft, Colors Magazine, The Artist's Voice, the Star Tribune, Public Art Review, Art Paper, The North Coast Review, Performance Twin Cities, the Arts Midwest Jazzletter, Twin Cities Jazznotes, The Critical Stage and Critical Conditions. He has won awards in literature, television and radio.
